Come and celebrate International Children’s Book Day with us! This year, we aim to spotlight not only children’s literature but also Literary Art. Join us for Children’s Book Day at Nordic Culture Point. The event is organised by IBBY Finland in cooperation with Nordic Culture Point.

Programme:

  • Welcome
  • Presentation of the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award
  • Fairy tale workshop with the illustrator, author, and comic artist Filippa Hella

We will be serving coffee.

The programme is designed for adults, but children are also welcome! No registration is required. During the evening, we aim to create an environment for networking and engaging discussions about literature. There will also be an opportunity to explore Literary Art!

International Children’s Book Day is celebrated annually on 2nd April, coinciding with the birth of Hans Christian Andersen. The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) coordinates the annual themes of the day. For 2024, Japan is the sponsor, and this year’s theme is “Cross the seas on the wings of your imagination.” You can find more information about the celebration of Children’s Book Day on the IBBY’s website.

IBBY Finland works to promote Finnish children’s and youth literature in Finland and abroad. It also organises events and publishes the magazine “Virikkeitä.”
