For decades she has woven together the indigenous Sámi peoples’ political struggles and magical mythological world-view in her art. Now she, her family and her people face an existential battle as climate change threatens their traditional way of life as reindeer herders on the Arctic tundra.
Historjá is a poetic and visually stunning story of indigenous peoples’ struggle against climate change, told through the visual landscape of one of the worlds most sought after artists, and represented Sapmi and Sweden at the Nordic pavilion in the Venice Biennale, 2022.
