Election breakfast: Iceland Althing 2021
On 25 September, Icelanders will head to the polls to vote for their 63 representatives in the Icelandic parliament, the Althing.
This election is especially exciting as opinion polls show that up to nine parties could get parliamentary representation, several of them with between 10 and 12 percent of the vote.
The last election led to a very unique governing coalition led by the Left-Green Katrín Jakobsdóttir with the Independence Party and the Progressive Party.
What will the election result mean for Finland and the Nordic Region?
To discuss the results of this nail-biting election, we’ve invited:
- Auðunn Atlason, Icelandic Ambassador to Finland
- Áslaug Hersteinsdóttir-Hölttä, FM
- Lars Lundsten, Associate Professor, Arcada.
As usual, the discussion will be led by Johan Strang, Associate Professor at the Centre for Nordic Studies at the University of Helsinki.
Breakfast will be served from 08:00. Sign up by 26 September.
Welcome, or “Velkominn” as we say in Icelandic!
