Join us for the release party for the brand new picture book Vilja och valen written by Sanna Tahvanainen and illustrated by Emelie Gårdeler.

We’re marking the occasion with an exhibition of illustrations from the book, an interview with its authors, games for the little ones as well as some bubbly and mingling.

Sanna Tahvanainen lives in Helsinki. She writes for both adults and children. This year, she’s been the subject of attention for her novel Vad gör fjärilar när det regnar? (which translates as What do butterflies do when it rains?) as well as for her fifth children’s book Vilja och valen (which translates as Desire and decisions).

Emelie Gårdeler is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Mariestad, Sweden. Apart from illustrating children’s books, she works with patterns and design, among other things.

Vilja och valen is Tahvanainen and Gårdeler’s first joint project. It’s a picture book about one child’s inner desire to experience one of nature’s great wonders and about the belief that it’s possible. The book is being published simultaneously in Swedish by Schildts & Söderströms and in Finnish as Vilja ja valas by Kustantamo S&S.
