Silvurdrongur (FO) is a Faroese hip hop/spoken word project lead by the Faroese poet Trygvi Danielsen and the inventive producer Per I. Højgaard Petersen. In Trygvi’s own words, the music can best be described as orðasangur (wordsong).
The band has released an album, Silvurpláta, in 2018 and played a series of wild concerts, including the G! Festival (FO) and the Arctic Sound Festival (GL). Trygvi also published the poetry book Silvurbók in tandem with the album. The music is a commentary on the human condition, human connection, while at the same time focusing in on the Faroese language itself. The songs travel from dark/gritty to bright/poppy and everything in between, always maintaining a sense of humour, weirdness, lyrical prowess and energy on stage.
The event is organised in collaboration with Tjaldur – the Friendship Society Finland-Faroe Islands and Nordic Culture Point. Silvurdrongur are guests in Tjaldur’s artist guest programme PopUpResidency & Networking Sessions. The evening include a networking session where the audience get to meet the artists and to hear about Tjaldur’s work.
